Student Spotlight - Rachel G.

Hey, I’m Rachel, and as you read this it might be my birthday. August 3rd, guys. Remember it for next year.

Being the featured member for August is a dope and relevant birthday gift because it was for my birthday last year that an ex-boyfriend got me a one-month pass to Krav Maga classes at Titan. It was one of the best things to ever happen to me and by far the coolest thing that guy ever did. Thanks, Kevin.

For a girl who hates working out and makes bold statements like, “I don’t run; it’s a sign of weakness,” Titan is seriously a blessing. I haven’t met a single person who sucks, and I have these things called muscles now. It’s like Krav Maga engages my brain to such an extent that I don’t even realize how hard I’m working until it’s all over and I notice I’m sweating on someone. My bad, guys.

I love Krav Maga, but I don’t know that I’d love it as much anywhere else. The community here is unbelievable, and the women at the gym — both instructors and students — have completely changed the way I look at my body. Let’s get real for a second…

For most of my life, I was concerned only with trying to comply with the beauty standards set forth by whatever arbitrary force thinks this stuff up and dumps it on society. And I’ve never even been the compliant type, so I know this is the kind of thing that affects a lot of women. But there is no perfect body for Krav Maga, and being strong is way better than being skinny. So, not only do I look awesome, but I feel awesome, too.

Happy Birthday to me :)
